Updates on LSTA Funding for Grants

Last Updated: July 15, 2025

Based on our current full award of Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) 2025 funds, and contingent on our continuing ability to draw down LSTA funds from our federal funder, the State Library plans to pay the following costs associated with our federally funded grants for libraries for the coming fiscal year from July 2025 - June 2026:

  • Our LSTA and Grants Coordinator (through September 2026).
  • Statewide LSTA grant projects: the Sage Library System courier; Oregon Battle of the Books; Overdue podcast; professional development scholarships; REFORMA Oregon projects; OSLIS special projects; Tribal newspaper and Chemawa document digitization by the University of Oregon; and Northwest Archivists Native American Collections Roundtable conference scholarships.
  • Summer 2026 teen internship grants.

Based on our continuing uncertainty about LSTA 2026 funding:

  • We will not issue LSTA competitive grants awards in 2025-26.
  • We currently do not plan to open the 2026-27 LSTA competitive grant cycle this fall.
  • We are advising statewide project grantees to prepare contingency plans for continuing their projects in the event LSTA 2026 funding is not approved by Congress.

We are committed to sharing more information as it becomes available, so that libraries and grantees have as much notice as possible for making any needed service adjustments or contingency plans. If you need assistance about what to consider while contingency planning, please contact us.
