Oregon Center for the Book

What is the Oregon Center for the Book?
The Oregon Center for the Book is a program of the Oregon Talking Book & Braille Library. We are the Oregon affiliate of the National Center for the Book at the Library of Congress.

Our mission is to promote an awareness of books, reading, literacy, authors and Oregon’s literary heritage.

Author Visits the Oregon Center for the Book

In September of 2024, we welcomed Portland Children’s Book author, Dane Liu, to our Oregon Center for the Book office in Salem. As part of her visit, Dane Liu read her book for us in our studio, giving us the opportunity to create a beautiful new recording for Talking Book patrons nationwide to enjoy. Wrapping up her visit to the library, Dane sat down with our librarian to discuss her recent and upcoming books, the importance of grandparents in families, and Oregon’s supportive creative community.
